Cupping is a very enjoyable and powerful practice which dates back as far as 3000BC. It is believed to have been developed in ancient China, but there is evidence that the ancient Egyptians also used cupping.
At The Therapy Bar, glass cups are heated quickly using a flame. The glass cup is then placed on to the skin, drawing the skin upward into the cup. Many practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine believe this vacuum created can help shift stagnant blood and lymph and therefore improve the body’s energy flow.
Cupping can be used to help a wide range of conditions. It may ease respiratory problems from everyday coughs and colds to the more serious asthma, pneumonia and bronchitis. Cupping may also ease many musculo-skeletal aches and pains.
